Big Week for Central Mountain Middle School Mini-THON Fundraiser
MILL HALL – Wednesday was another successful “stall” day at the Central Mountain Middle School as students raise funds for the school’s annual Mini-THON, part of the fight against childhood cancer.
Wednesay’s “stall” day is an event organized by the Mini-THON committee to raise money towards the THON effort scheduled to end on Friday of this week. Students from the middle school bring in their spare change and the school day is “stalled” while the committee volunteers count the change. This is the second year for the stall day event and this Wednesday raised $3,363 to put towards the THON total.
This Friday will see students engaged for six straight hours during the last day of the event, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Students will be dancing and participating in non-stop activities while capping off this year’s fundraiser. This year, the public will be welcome from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., when the unveiling of the total amount raised will take place.
Mini-THON fundraisers, modeled after the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON), benefit Four Diamonds – an organization whose mission is to defeat childhood cancer. The organization notes it has assisted 100 percent of childhood cancer patients who have been treated at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
