Old School Market Open for Business
SALONA – The old Lamar Township School began a new life Friday, now the Old School Market. The turnout was huge for the first day, the opening coinciding with the start of the annual Rote Community Yard Sales.
The building is midway between Salona and Rote and was seeing heavy traffic for its opening weekend, a special two-day event, again to coincide with the nearby yard sales in the East End of Nittany Valley.
Friday hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday hours on special occasions only, such as this weekend, will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Keystone Central School District had closed the school in 2012 and it had been unoccupied until David and Kathryn Allgyer purchased the structure last year, the sale closing earlier this year. Ruth Eoute is the business manager. Some 60 vendors occupy the year-round flea and farmers market.
