Gas Prices Top $3
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – You have to go back five years since the price of a gallon of gas was over $3 in the Lock Haven area, but that figure was topped throughout the lower end of Clinton County on Friday.
A spokesman for AAA blamed part of the increase on high demand, terming the demand for gas nationwide the highest ever for April. Jim Garrity of AAA East Central said, “That’s on the back of a stronger economy.” He told NPR Radio climbing crude oil prices are also a factor. The price of oil hit a low during an over-supply period in 2014 and 2015 but has been inching up since then. Refinery maintenance is also reported a factor in the jump.
Pennsylvania also has the highest gas tax in the United States.
