Tyrone Sprints to 62-38 Win over Lady Wildcats

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Lady Wildcat basketball team hosted Tyrone tonight and the guests quickly stabled their dominance on the hardwood for a 62-38 win.
The Lady Golden Eagles opened up with a fast-paced offense that saw nearly every shot they attempted hitting the mark. Tyrone also established a tough, stingy defensive effort as well by setting up solid traps and causing several turnovers which they capitalized on.
By the end of the first half, Tyrone held a comfortable 37-12 advantage.
“Tyrone is a really good team. They shot the ball rally well tonight,” said CM head coach Scott Baker of his opponent, “They have a really nice team.”
Once again, the Lady ‘Cats responded as best they could by playing with intensity and using the balance of the game as a learning opportunity. In the second half, the Lady Wildcats kept pace with Tyrone but the deficit was too great to overcome.
“We got behind really, really early,” Baker said, “I told the team, I don’t care what the score is, we need to play possession for possession and go from there. In the second half we settled down and started to do that.”
Central Mountain’s Avery Baker went on an 10 point run that began late in the third quarter that spanned into the final period by bookending a pair of 3-pointers around two layups in the paint.
Baker finished with a team high 13 points followed by 11 points from Quinlynn McCann. Mia Kopysciansky scored 5 points for Cm with Morgan Wetzel adding 4, Sumer Flanagan, 3 and Madyson Smith scoring 2 points.
The loss takes Central Mountain to 0-8 on the season, 0-4 in the PHAC.
Central Mountain will next travel to Selinsgrove on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019 for a conference game.
