David H. Johnson – Obituary
David H. Johnson, 83, of Blanchard passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 while on a hunting trip in Oregon.
Born on April 22, 1935 in Clearfield, he was a son of the late Stanley and Virginia Kirk Johnson.
After graduating from Lock Haven High School in 1953, he earned his bachelor’s degree and later his Masters in Education, both from Penn State University.
In 1956 he married the love of his life, the former Esther Hale, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage.
David was employed at Lock Haven High School, teaching Science and Vocational Studies before serving as the Lock Haven Jr. and Sr. High Principal until retiring in 1993. He then served as the Liberty Twp. Tax Collector for 8 years.
He attended Beech Creek Wesleyan Church.
David was a member of Belle Springs Golf Club.
He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, golfing, and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Esther Johnson of Blanchard; four children: Deborah (Patrick) Wilson of Alaska, David S. (Kimberly) Johnson of Howard, Stephen (Judith) Johnson of Meadville and Diane Confer (Edward Bell) of Mill Hall; a brother, Kirk (Judy) Johnson of Howard; ten grandchildren: Jennifer Lomison (Raymond Cebulski) of Alaska, Patrick Wilson Jr. of Alaska, Jonathan Wilson of Alaska, Andrew Wilson of Alaska, Abbey (Kevin) Bonnell of Bellefonte, Meghan (Stephen) Hirlinger of State College, Samuel Johnson(Ashley Sparber) of Meadville, Michael Johnson of Meadville, Cayden Confer of Mill Hall, and Austin Confer of Mill Hall.; and four great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Weaver and a grandson, Joseph Johnson.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 8 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with Rev. Alan Eckenroad officiating.
Private burial will take place at Schenck’s Cemetery, Howard.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6 P.M. until the time of the service.
