Seals Upend Wildcats on Senior Night, 7-0

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The evening started off pleasant enough as the Central Mountain boys’ soccer program honored 7 seniors for their contributions to Wildcat soccer.

Once the game began, though, it was all Selinsgrove when it cam to the score board. The Seals put up 4 goals in the first period and were on their way to duplicating that effort in the second period with a 7-0 lead when the lights went out with 8:13 remaining in the game.

Shortly after 9 p.m. in this hard-fought game that saw a half-dozen issuances of yellow card infractions in the late going of the game, there were several flashes of light and smoke sighted near the PennDOT Mill Hall substation along nearby Rt. 150 and the field lights at Malinak Stadiom went out. The emergency lights, the field house lights, press box and scoreboard lights returned, but it would take some time for the field lights to come back up to power.

Game officials made the decision to call the contest complete, ending the game with the 7-0 win for Selinsgrove.

The Seals were relentless in the offensive pursuit throughout the game, racking up 11 shots on goal and 4 corner kicks along the way. No matter how hard the Wildcat defense would try, they couldn’t fin an answer to shut down the Selinsgrove onslaught.

It was a similar situation for the CM offense as the attempts to score some points of their own were few and far between … with little success in the end. The ‘Cats mustard only 3 shots on goal and no corner kicks.

Chase Young, Jensen Brown and Caden Malek had 1 shot on goal, each for Central Mountain.

Central Mountain keeper, Cy Probst had a busy night and recorded 8 saves.

The 7 seniors and their parents honored in pregame ceremonies were: manager, Emily Miller, Brayden Brungard, Tommy Pringle, Ashton McCloskey, Garrett Hagaman, Dalton Bechdel and Steven Giordano.
