Former CM Wildcats Playing in Small College World Series Championship Today

DUBOIS – Penn State-DuBois baseball will be playing for the USCAA Small College Baseball World Series national championship today. It’s no surprise that the PSU-Du Bois squad features four former Central Mountain Wildcats on their roster. Talon Falls, Toner Corl, Bryce Hanley and Clayton Butler have all made significant contributions to the effort.
Falls, in his sophomore season, has contributed 19 hits including 4 doubles and a homer they season for a .453 batting average and has 2 stolen bases to his credit and a .7831 fielding percentage on defense..
Corl is a freshmen infielder/pitcher at DuBois. On the mound, Corl has worked 40.2 innings with a 2.43 ERA and has 23 strikeouts this season. At the plate, Corl has had 33 hits including 2 doubles and a homer while batting .287 on the season with 7 stolen bases.
Hanley, a junior pitcher for DuBois has made 6 appearances on the mound as a closer, working 7.2 innings striking out 3 batters in the process.
Butler, a first baseman/catcher/pitcher for DuBois, has had 29 hits this season, including 4 doubles and 5 home runs and 18 RBI for a .326 batting average and a 875 fielding percentage.
PSU-DB earned their berth in today’s USCAA championship game by defeating Cleary, 7-6 yesterday.
DuBois advances to the national championship game today at 2:30 p.m. against the winner of a Cleary-Apprentice School loser’s bracket final game set for today at 11 a.m.
The Nittany Lions can claim the title with a win, but a loss would force a winner-take-all final game immediately after the 2:30 p.m. contest.
PSU-DuBois also earned the PSUAC Conference Championship with a 10-2 win over Penn State Brandywine on May 7.
