CM’s McGhee Commits to Hood College

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain High School swimmer Olivia McGhee signed Wednesday with Hood College in Frederick, MD. She has been accepted into the Hood Honors Program. She will major in Bio Pre-Med and Minor in African American Studies.

Blazer head coach Don Feinberg said, “Olivia McGhee is our strongest recruited swimmer for the 2018 season and a very welcomed addition to our program.”

McGhee, a senior, was the captain of the 2018 Central Mountain team. She was part of the relay team holding the school record in the 200 meter freestyle relay (1:45.98) in 2017 and the 400 meter freestyle relay (3:51.72) in 2018. She lettered all four years in high school.

She is a certified lifeguard and has worked at the Mill Hall Community Pool for the last three years. She is also a swim lesson instructor and teaches water safety skills to community pool patrons.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, Leaders Save Lives Program and creator of the “Share the Love” program. She was a member of the Loggerhead swim team for the last 14 years.

McGhee has been awarded the Hood Founder’s Scholarship and the Hodson-Gilliam Scholarship.

Hood College competes in the Middle Atlantic Conference. The school’s assistant swim coach is Ashley Gardner who was a swimmer at Lock Haven University.
