Mark the Shark Toy Drive Fills the Bus for Kids
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The 24th Mark the Shark Toy Drive is in the books and hundreds of area children will benefit from the annual event staged by longtime local disc jockey Mark Schlesinger.
This year’s campaign was highlighted by the Toy Drive’s Sunday stop at the Mill Hall Walmart. A Susquehanna Transit charter bus was filled to capacity with holiday gifts donated by area residents. Many were purchased inside the store and presented to the staff from radio station 92.1-FM WSQV during a daylong live broadcast.
Schlesinger said the response was overwhelming in both toys and monetary contributions. He thanked the many donors, not only for their gifts this Sunday but over the nearly quarter of a century he has staged the toy drive.
The toys will be distributed in area schools and also at many social service agencies. The campaign benefits some 600 children each Christmas season.
