“Christmas With Friends”
RENOVO- It’s that time of year! The Renovo Area Community Choir will be presenting their Christmas Concert on December 3, 2017, 2:00 pm at the 7th Street United Methodist Church.
Joining us in celebrating the holiday season will be several of our friends who will add their talents to the song selections: Dave Sorgen – trumpet, Carolyn Boxmeyer – flute, Mel Hesser – percussion, Jacquie Engel – piano, Jim Boxmeyer – piano/organ, and the handbell choir – Margaret Riggle, with Charly Kepler, Donna Rathmell, and Rich Wykoff.
The concert will open with “Let the Earth Resound”, a spirited number by Sally Albrecht, followed by the beautiful “The Manger Carol” arranged by Audrey Snyder. Everyone will recognize the next two beloved Christmas songs – “Do You Hear What I Hear” arranged by Harry SImeone, and “The Little Drummer Boy” arranged by Joel Raney. And the first half of the concert ends with the selection, “One Star” by Sally Albrecht and Jay Althouse, and “Noel Fanfare”, a choral arrangement based on Psalm 98, by Patti Drennan.
The second half of the concert begins with the familiar “Sleigh Ride” by Hawley Ades. “Winter’s Song” by Russell Edwards and Vicki Rhodes, invites us to welcome in the season of joy. “A Bit of Holiday Cheer” arranged by Teena Chinn is a fun medley of popular Christmas songs: “Winter Wonderland”, “Jingle Bell Rock”, “Let it Snow!”, “Frosty the Snowman”, “The Christmas Waltz”, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “Here Comes Santa Claus”, “Nuttin’ for Christmas”, “All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth”, and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.
The choir will ring in the holiday with “Bring in Christmas Day” by Carl Strommen, and perform the ever familiar “White Christmas” by Irving Berlin. The concert comes to a close with everyone joining for “A Holiday Sing-Along” arranged by Audrey Snyder featuring “Deck the Hall”, “Jingle Bells”, “O Christmas Tree”, and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.
The Renovo Area Community Choir, under the direction of Patricia Lacy and accompanied by Martena Rogers, invites you to herald in the holidays for a joy-filled afternoon of music with your friends!
