LHU Baseball Dusted by Marauders

lhu-baseLOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University baseball team (11-14, 3-9 PSAC East) dropped both games of a PSAC East Tuesday doubleheader to visiting Millersville University (23-10, 10-4 PSAC East)  at Foundation Field.

The Bald Eagles dropped game one, 8-0 and fell in game two, 8-4.

Leading the way today for Lock Haven was Karlston VonKiel (Alburtis, Pa./West-Mont Christian), who was 4-for-7 at the plate.. He was 2-for-3 in game one, accounting for two of Lock Haven’s four hits and he went 2-for-4 with a run scored in game two.

Millersville jumped on LHU early in game one, plating three runs in the top of the first. The Marauders added three in the fifth and two in the seventh on the way to the win.

Logan Grant pitched a complete-game, four-hit shutout and Dan Johnson homered twice for MU.

Lock Haven led 2-1 through one inning in game two, after Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) singled to knock in a run with no outs and Anthony Kyne (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.

A four-run inning in the third and three more in the sixth sealed the win for Millersville.

Kyne finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI.

Ryan Koch (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) and Tyson Petersheim (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) joined Kyne and VonKiel with two hits apiece in the game.

With the two wins Millersville sweeps the four-game season-series with Lock Haven.

The Marauders were ranked No. 3 in the latest of edition of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Atlantic Region weekly poll, which was released yesterday (Monday).

Lock Haven returns to action on Friday when the Bald Eagles host West Chester in PSAC East action.
