LHU Baseball Update: Split at Stroud
EAST STROUDSBURG – For the second straight day Sunday saw the Lock Haven University baseball team (11-12, 3-7 PSAC East) split a doubleheader with East Stroudsburg (20-11, 6-8 PSAC East) in PSAC East action.
Lock Haven won game one, 3-2, but fell in game two, 5-0.
The Bald Eagles received a great pitching performance from Joe Nestor (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) in the game one win. Nestor threw all seven innings and allowed just one earned run while scattering five hits. He struck out four for his third win of the year.
With the game tied, 2-2 in the seventh inning, LHU began to rally.
Ryan Henritzy (Newtown Square, Pa./Council Rock North) hit a one-out single and one batter later, stole second, putting himself into scoring position. With two outs, ESU intentionally walked Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) to get to Anthony Kyne(Newtown, Pa./Penn State Brandywine).
Kyne came up big for The Haven, as he singled home Henritzy to give LHU the lead, 3-2.
Nestor shut the door on ESU in the bottom of the inning, retiring the Warriors in order.
Kyne was 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the win.
Tyson Petersheim (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) also had two hits in the win. He went 2-for-3.
Lock Haven fell in game two, 5-0.
East Stroudsburg’s starting pitcher, Brandon Holup threw an outstanding game. He allowed just one hit and walked two.
Henritzy tallied LHU’s lone hit in the game, a third inning double.
Lock Haven returns to action Tuesday when LHU hosts Millersville in a PSAC East matchup. First pitch from Foundation Field is set for 1 p.m.
