CM’s Wockenfuss Signs with Alfred
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — Central Mountain senior Spencer Wockenfuss will continue his football and academic career at Alfred State University of New York. He signed the paperwork on Thursday of this week at the NCAA Division III school, flanked by his sister Lydia and his mother Annette. Also attending were his high school coaches, Jim Renninger and Mike Nines. Wockenfuss said he plans to major in mechanical engineering. He was recruited to the upstate New York school by a former Central Mountain player, Holden Whitehead, now a graduate assistant coach at Alfred.
Wockenfuss said he liked everything about the school, from its coaches to team members to its engineering program. He was an offensive lineman at Central Mountain and indicted he would play where needed in college. The Saxons were a nationally ranked team a year ago and made it to the Division III quarterfinal round.
