Santander leaving Main Street, Lock Haven location
LOCK HAVEN – Santander Bank has notified its local customers it will be leaving its E. Main St. location to consolidate with its office at Bellefonte Avenue and S. Jones St.
Lock Haven city councilman Rick Conklin noted the bank’s departure from Main Street at Monday night’s city council meeting. He called it “a hit to that area.” He said the date for consolidation is March of next year.
Unless a replacement bank moves in, the northwest corner of Main and Vesper Streets will be without a bank for the first time since the 1890s. The First National Bank occupied the site for much of that time, until a series of consolidations occurred, most recently the building’s first floor housing Santander.
The three-story structure was built in 187l and initially housed a shoe factory until its conversion to a bank.
