LHU Bald Eagles surge in second half, drop Seton Hill, 94-77
LOCK HAVEN – Freshman Amir Hinton(Philadelphia/Abington) scored a game and career-high 25 points and was one of several Bald Eagles who hit a career-high scoring milestone in the Lock Haven University men’s basketball team’s (3-1, 1-1 PSAC) 94-77 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory over Seton Hill (2-2, 1-1 PSAC).
Hinton was one of four players, who hit a new career-high in scoring. Ra’eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) was nearly unstoppable all game and hit 11 of 13 shots from the floor and knocked down a career-high 22 points.
Hinton was 9 of 17 from the floor and he added four assists and five rebounds.
As Lock Haven pulled away down the stretch, both Hinton and Hunt threw down some monster dunks, much to the delight of the home crowd.
Cole Renninger (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) added a career-high 13 points, Khaleeq Campbell (Chester, Pa./Chester) scored a career-high 11 points and Brahieme Jackson(Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) added 10 points to power the Bald Eagles balanced scoring attack that came up just six points short of the century mark.
LHU’s high-flying offense shot 61 percent from the field for the game.
Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) added nine points and Craig Slade(Philadelphia/Constitution) had six rebounds.
Jackson had seven rebounds to go along with his 10-point effort.
The Bald Eagles led by just one at the break, 46-45, but a strong second-half surge led LHU to victory.
Sparking The Haven’s second-half surge was a trio of freshmen including Hinton, Campbell and Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara).
Campbell and Brake came off the bench and made an immediate and major impact on the game during a crucial run late in the second half. Campbell was 3 of 3 from 3-point range and all three of his 3-pointers came off passes form Brake.
Lock Haven also scored 23 points off Seton Hill turnovers.
Noah Davis scored 18 points for Seton Hill and was one of three players in double figures for the Griffins.
The Bald Eagles are set to host Carlow University on Tuesday, November 22 at 6 p.m.
