Michael D. Motter – Obituary

Michael D. Motter, 50, of York, Pa, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his home.
The son of David H. (Midgie) Motter of Flemington and Patricia Keen (John) Fleck of the State College area, Michael was born in Lock Haven on March 5, 1963.
Michael was a graduate of Lock Haven High School, class of 1981. He obtained his Associates Degree in Culinary Art and Bachelors Degree in Restaurant Management from Johnson & Wales Culinary University.
Cooking was his passion. He worked at numerous restaurants and catering companies and was currently employed at Artistic Foods Catering in York as Executive Chef.
Michael loved baseball and was an excellent ball player in his youth. He loved the rain and the outdoors, spending lots of time camping, hiking, and four wheeling with his friends and family in the Pine Creek Valley. He was also an avid reader.
Michael’s greatest love and priority was his children. He enjoyed spending time with his children, who shared his love for the outdoors, and followed them in their sports and activities wherever they went. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Samuel M. and Grace M. Motter of York; his grandmother, Rhea M. Keen of Flemington; two sisters, Kimberly Motter (Alan) McNally of IN and their children, Ashley and Christopher, and Karen M. (Rod) Jarosz of MA and their daughter Whitney Jarosz-Ryan and her son Brennan; two step-sisters, Jodi Rooney (Steve) Jones of Castanea and their children, Michael and Peyton, Nora Fleck (Larry) Whatley of WA and their son Kevin; a step-brother, John L. Fleck of WA; and the mother of his children, Tammy (Rich) Higgins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ernest R. Keen; his step-mother, Nancy Rooney Motter; and a niece, Mackenzie Paige Jarosz.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11a.m. at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 1175 W. Fourth St., Lock Haven with Rev. Patty Dodds officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the church on Friday from 10:30 until the time of the service.
