LHU Sweeps Clarion
CLARION – The Lock Haven University softball team (31-15, 14-6 PSAC Central) closed Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central play with a sweep of host Clarion University (4-33, 1-19 PSAC Central) today.
The Bald Eagles won game one 4-0 and took game two, 11-0 in five innings.
Over the two games, Lock Haven scored 15 runs on 19 hits and got home runs from Bekah Slattery (Douglasville, Pa./Daniel Boone), and McKenna Garlock(Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon).
The Bald Eagles finished second in the PSAC Central Division, thanks to their 14-6 record and they earned the No. 2 seed out of the Central for next week’s PSAC Tournament.
In game one, LHU scored four runs on eight hits. All four runs came in the fifth inning, which was sparked by Slattery’s two-run homer.
Garlock was 2 for 3 with a RBI in the game-one win.
Slattery was solid in the circle as well and struck out seven on the way to the complete-game shutout. She allowed just four hits.
In game two, Lock Haven scored 11 runs on 11 hits. The Bald Eagles plated six runs in the second and five runs in the fourth.
Garlock hit a two-run home run in the second and Gabrielle Henson (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) went 3 for 3 with a RBI and run scored.
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) threw a one-hit, five-inning shutout. She struck out four.
LHU will close the regular season tomorrow (Sunday, April 24) at home vs. Goldey-Beacom (1/3 p.m.) in non-conference action.
