Violet F. Geise – Obituary

ObitArtViolet F. “Mickey” Geise, 91, of Drums, Pa, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in Myrtle Beach, SC.

She was born in Jerome, Pa on December 31, 1924, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Trella Jones McDaniel.

Mickey was a 1943 graduate of Conemaugh Twp. High School, Davidsville, Pa.

In 1949 at Maple Springs Church of the Brethren, Hollsopple, Pa, she married Charles A. Geise, who preceded her in death in 2006.

Mickey was employed at the Lock Haven Chair Factory, Sylvania Electric Products of Lock Haven and Weis Market of Lock Haven before working for the B. Snowiss Fur Co. of Lock Haven for 45 years until her retirement.

She was a former member of the Maple Springs Church of the Brethren and New Life Community Church of Mountain Top.

Mickey was very active in the Lock Haven Moose Lodge, Chapter 215. During WWII, she worked at Holmstead Field, Middleton, Pa on bomber planes. Mickey and her husband also owned and operated the Four Seasons Tavern, Charleton, Pa.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends in Johnstown and Lock Haven.

Mickey is survived by a son, Lawrence D. “Larry” (Joyce) Geise of Drums, Pa; a sister, Almeda Stetz of Jerome, Pa; sister-in-law, Almeda Stetz, of Jerome, Pa; three granddaughters, Jacquelyn (Christopher) Johnson, Christa (Jeffrey) Aldrich and Erin (Joe) Banach; a grandson, Adam (Lisa) Geise; two step-grandsons, Jason (Melanie) Peterson and John (Karen) Peterson; eight great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; and a cousin, Shirley (Robert) Hurd of Pleasant Gap.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annie (Dick) Carrico.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa 17745 with Rev. Dave Elick officiating.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service with a Moose Lodge service beginning at 6:45 p.m.

A burial committal service will take place on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Maple Springs Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 106 Spring Road, Hollsopple, Pa 15935.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Annie Halenbake Ross Library of Lock Haven.
