Lock Haven Catholic School Adds 7th Grade
LOCK HAVEN – In a unanimous vote The Lock Haven Catholic School Council has approved adding a seventh grade class to the current offerings at its West Water Street school, effective with the 2014-15 school year.
The unanimous action came at a council membership meeting last week. The decision will make the school a kindergarten through seventh grade school for the next school year.
A council spokesman said the LHCS School Council also decided to add eighth grade for the 2015-2016 school year, making the school officially a combined elementary and middle school facility.
This decision, announced publicly on Monday of this week, was made after an approximately two year study of the needs of the LHCS community as well as the Holy Spirit Parish community. It is also part of the ongoing expansion project currently under way at the school.
The school is seeking to raise $1.5 million to add two classrooms, restroom facilities, a kitchen area and a multi-purpose room. School officials earlier this month said more than a third of the fund-raising goal has been achieved so far.
A council release said LHCS presently has ten students registered for its new seventh grade. For more information about registering a child for 7th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st grades or kindergarten, please contact the school at 570-748-7252, or by visiting the school’s website, www.lhcs.org.
