LHU Topped by IUP 38-13

lhu-footballINDIANA – The Lock Haven University football team (0-3) lost 38-13 on the road Saturday at Inidiana University of Pennsylvania (1-1) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action.

Alex Boumerhi (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) connected on 34 and 24-yard field goal attempts, and for the second straight week Dan Krupko (Homeworth, Ohio/Urbana Univ.) caught a touchdown pass from Caleb Walton (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) to round out the Bald Eagles scoring.

Walton completed 18 of 35 passes for 165 yards and Beau Swales (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) carried the ball 15 times for 78 yards to highlight the offense.

On defense, Rahjeir Miles-Eubanks (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) once again led the way with 11 tackles. Daniel Strawbridge (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) added 10 stops.

Boumerhi’s 34-yard field goal as time expired in the first quarter put Lock Haven up 3-0.

The Crimson Hawks led 10-3 at halftime and they tacked on 14 third-quarter points to pull away.

Boumerhi hit from 24 yards midway through the third quarter and Krupko’s second career LHU TD reception capped a nine-play, 79 yard drive in the fourth.

Lock Haven return home next Saturday, September 19 to host East Stroudsburg at 12 p.m.

With the loss to IUP on Saturday (Week 3), the Bald Eagles fall to 0-3 on the season … The game at IUP marked Lock Haven’s second straight road game (0-2) and also marked LHU’s third straight game against a team from the PSAC Western Division (Clarion, Seton Hill & IUP) … The Bald Eagles open PSAC Eastern Division play next Saturday (September 26) at home vs. East Stroudsburg (1-2) … The loss left first-year head coach Dave Taynor still in search of his first win at Lock Haven (0-3 at LHU; 37-43 career) … QB Caleb Walton made his 19 career (19th consecutive) start for LHU … Senior Luke Erdman (center) made his 33rd career (33rd consecutive start); he’s started every game since Week 4 of his freshman year in 2012 … Walton’s TD pass vs. IUP marked the 28th of his career, tying him for No. 3 all-time with Dan Spittal (1977-79) … Walton now has 3,935 career passing yards, which ranks No. 6 all-time, just 51 away from No. 5 … DB Rahjeir Miles-Eubanks has led LHU in tackles in each of the first three games with 11, 12 and 11, respectively (he leads LHU with 34 tackles on the season).
