by Jim Morgan
FARWELL – More than half the Bucktail football roster are returning letterman from last season. But at the end of the season, Bucktail will see 12 of the 24 man roster graduate.
The twleve returning Seniors are Tom Riggle (DE), Josh Marr (RB/DE), Anthony Intallura (RB/DB), Shawn Lovett (FL/DB), Collin Spencer (OT/DT), Kyle Ransdorf (G/ILB), Ryan Prebble (OT/DE), Tom Miller (C/DT), Austin Ransdorf (OT/DT), Brice Cannon (G/DT), Keifer Mason (E/DB) and Josh Knauff (E/DB). The underclassman are Juniors Mike Casper (QB/DB), Mitch Intallura (E/DE), John Michitsch (E/DB), Zack Cummings (DT), Devin Embick (OT/DT). Sophmores are Logan Long (FB/OLB) who transferred from Central Mountain. James Lund (DB), Aaron Lucas (G/DT), Cody Hand (OT/OLB) and Bill Yednak (G/DT). The only freshman are Tanner Riggle (FB/ILB) and Blake Cannon (RB/OLB).
For Coach Ransom it is work in process from week to week as to get eleven players on the same page. This year they have extended practice from a half hour to an hour more. With the start of the season coming up this Friday September 4th, the Bucks will host Montgomery, kick-off is at 7:00 PM. We will be ready and it should be an exciting game to start off with. Montgomery has always been an exciting game between the two schools. It mostly goes down to the last drive.
Last year at this point, the Bucks lost two key players Willie Hopkins who did not return by season end and is now playing for the Division III Bearcats of St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. The other player is returning Junior Mike Casper who was quarterback. He returned back to the team last season around week eight. Coach Ransom has mentioned that Casper has been doing well at the QB position and had a nice scrimmage against South Williamsport.
The player that has picked his game up from last season as most of the Coaches have pointed out is Kyle Ransdorf and they mean both sides of the ball. They believe that adding freshman Blake Cannon to the backfield will be a nice addition.
The beef is still there for the Bucks on the line and on each side of the ball. We should be able to win the battle in the trentions on most teams.
Talking with some players off the field, it sounds like they all belive that the Bucks should have a really good season. Listen to the people on the sidelines and it should be a long season for the Bucks. If the kids believe in themselves, that is all that matters. The Bucks will be successful!
