Words of Grace – July 9, 2015
To believe, or not to believe, that is the decision we must make. The prophet Joel warned that “the day of the Lord is at hand” (1:15). He also wrote that, because that day is near, a decision must be made.
“Multitudes, multitudes, in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision” (3:14).
The Lord Jesus often confronted people with the need to make a decision concerning him. After he told Nicodemus that God loved the world and gave his Son, he went on to tell him “that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
He wanted Nicodemus to become a believer because, as he stated, “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (v.18).
The believer in Christ has everlasting life, but the unbeliever “shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” (v. 36).
John the apostle, in his first epistle, wrote: “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life” (5:12).
To believe, or not to believe. Have you made your decision?
