leg-ba-logo2BEECH CREEK — The Beech Creek Junior Legion baseball team got off to a good start Tuesday evening against playoff foe Mifflin County. The Junior Crickets started well with a 3-0 first inning lead, but didn’t finish so well, falling to the visitors by a 7-4 score and sending the home team into the loser’s bracket in the West Branch League playoffs.

Beech Creek used an Ethan Watkins double and a Troy Gardner single to plate three in the first. But Mifflin County came back with one in the third and pushed across four month off Watkins in inning four and never trailed.

Mifflin County nicked Mahlik Houtz for two in the sixth and Beech Creek responded with one in the sixth but it was not enough.

The home team will be back at Beech Creek Wednesday evening against an opponent to be determined in the double-elimination tourney.

The Junior Crickets were paced by Asher Corl with two singles and a run scored, Watkins with his double and Gardner with a single. Houtz had a double and Tanner Lavelle a single.
