Raymond “Rink” F. Eldred, 77, of 24 Schoolhouse Road, Mill Hall, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Lock Haven Hospital.

Born on February 15, 1936 in Mill Hall, he was the son of the late George J. and Evelyn M. Rogers Eldred.

After graduating from Lock Haven High School in 1954, Rink served in the United States Navy for six years. During his time in the service, he took advantage of numerous opportunities to learn different trades including welding.

On July 21, 1961, Rink married the love of his life, the former Sylvia Ritz who preceded him in death on November 8, 2006.

He worked as a welder for Piper Aircraft. He then served in the maintenance department at Lock Haven University, retiring in 1998.

In his early years he enjoyed roller skating which he was excellent at. This talent led to his nickname, Rink.

Rink was well-known for his welding talent. He was a hard worker, taking on any task at hand.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing.

Surviving are three sons: Raymond T. (Anita) Eldred, David W. Eldred, and Keith A. Eldred, all of Mill Hall; a daughter, Christine M. (Jeff) Benner of Mill Hall; three brothers: Tom Eldred, Lester Eldred, and Gary Eldred; two sisters, Carol Welch and Shirley Kramer; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one great grandchild on the way.

Along with his parents and wife, Rink was preceded in death by one brother, George Eldred.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Phelps Chapel United Methodist Church, 68 Phelps Chapel Road, Jersey Shore, with Rev. Cathy Dawes officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church from noon until the time of the service.
