Battling Back, Clinton Dispatches Montgomery 12-1
MONTGOMERY β Clinton’s bats refused to remain silent as they took on Montgomery in the District 12 Junior Softball tournament.
Still feeling the sting from coming up on the losing end of a tight 4-0 loss to Williamsport, Clinton got off to a slow and steady start scoring single runs in the first two innings, then adding a pair of runs to their tally in both the third and fourth innings.
Then the bats really woke up in the fifth inning where Clinton added an additional 6 unanswered runs to invoke the 10-run rule and an early end to the contest.
Josie Dershem (2-singles), Caitlyn Brush Triple and double), Marissa Moyer (double and single), Makenzie Peters (2-doubles) and Cassidy Brush (2-singles) all went 2-for-2 in the batter’s box with Lindsey Johnson and Skylar Falls each added a single to the effort.
Dershem also controlled the defense from inside the circle going the distance for Clinton pitching 5 strikeouts while giving up a lone hit.
Next up for Clinton is a return trip to Staggert Field to face Montoursville at 6 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015. The winner of that game will earn the opportunity for redemption with Williamsport, the winner’s bracket champion, on Saturday, July 4 at 11 a.m. at Nippenose.
