LHU Women’s Basketball wraps up 2-0 weekend at home with victory over Slippery Rock

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven women’s basketball team wrapped up a perfect 2-0 weekend at home in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action after taking down Slippery Rock, 68-59, on Saturday afternoon in Thomas Fieldhouse.

A dominant day in the paint and a trio of double-figure scorers powered Lock Haven (5-4, 2-2 PSAC) to its second straight victory at home and in conference play.

After falling behind 18-15 after the opening period, The Haven responded by taking the second quarter 15-10 to carry a 30-28 advantage into the break.

The Bald Eagles shot 58 percent from the floor in the third quarter and outscored The Rock, 21-14, to extend its lead to nine heading into the final 15 minutes.

Slippery Rock came out aggressive in the fourth quarter and cut its deficit to seven (58-51) with 3:58 to go, but Lock Haven responded with a 7-2 run to extend its lead back to 13 and ultimately put the game out of reach.

The Bald Eagles piled up 50 points in the paint and controlled the glass with a 50-22 rebounding advantage, including 21 offensive boards that led to 15 second-chance points.​

Alana Robinson led Lock Haven with a game-high 22 points to go with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals in 39 minutes.

Madeline Evans added a powerful double-double with 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, while Jenadia Jordan stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Rhlyn Rouse chipped in 11 rebounds and nine points as Lock Haven’s frontcourt set the tone inside.​

Lock Haven finished 28-of-74 (37.8 percent) from the field and 11-of-15 at the free-throw line, while forcing 18 Slippery Rock turnovers and turning them into 10 points. The Bald Eagles forced 18 Slippery Rock turnovers and held a 13-6 edge in fast-break points.
