Obituary – James L. Moore

With deep sorrow and love, we announce the passing of James L. Moore, a devoted husband, loving father, proud pappy, and cherished member of the Lock Haven community, who passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, just two days shy of his 86th birthday.

Born on May 3, 1939, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, Jim was the son of Harold and Myda Moore Sr. He graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1957 and started his lifelong commitment to service with his enlistment in the Army.  When he completed his Army service he went to work for Keystone Instruments. He then went on to earn an electrical degree and started his own business to serve the greater Lock Haven area.  With his commitment to service still calling him, he joined the Army National Guard where he served his country with pride and dedication for 22 years.

On February 26, 1966, Jim married the love of his life, Donna (Yearick) Moore, and together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and enduring values. He was a deeply devoted father to Ashley (Tony) Hudgins, Staci (Jim) Kelly, and Bradley (Kasey) Moore, and a proud Pappy to Tyler, Colton, Tony, Tory, and Charli – each of whom brought him immense pride and joy with each of their own accomplishments.

Jim was a fixture in his community, always generous with his time and talents. He was a Past Master of Lafayette Lodge #199 in 1983, and an active member of the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, where he especially enjoyed participating in local parades with the Little Vettes. He was also a member of the Williamsport Consistory and the Lock Haven Moose Lodge. A life member of the Citizens Hose Company of the Lock Haven Fire Department, Jim served as both an officer and trustee since 1971. He was also a proud member of the Beech Creek American Legion.

Those who knew Jim will remember his steady presence, warm smile, and quiet strength. He was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures — time with family, lending a helping hand, and being a part of the community, he loved. Jim’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he loved so dearly. He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered — always.

Family and friends will be received in the Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W, Main St., Lock Haven  on Wednesday May 7, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm to remember a man who gave so much and asked for so little in return.  A celebration of Jim’s life will start at 12:30 pm with the Citizens Hose Company performing a honor ceremony followed by the Jersey Shore Honor Guards paying final tribute at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Jaffa Shriners Hospital for Children, 2200 Broad Ave., Altoona, PA 16601, a cause close to his heart.
