Sons of Italy Honored as Keystone Little League Opens Season in Renovo

By Kevin Rauch

Despite an all night rain Friday lasting into Saturday morning, teams throughout the Keystone Little League made the trek to Renovo over the weekend as all three fields in East Renovo hosted games celebrating the official kick-off of little league action. With the rain stopping around 8AM Saturday organizers pushed back the opening pitch to 11:00AM, as they prepared the fields for the young players.

The fields were more than ready for the first game as a steady flow of teams went in and out of East Renovo with hundreds celebrating the opening weekend.

The Renovo officers surprised the Sons of Italy Lodge #149 of Renovo Saturday morning, as they named the T-Ball field after the Club noting that they are always a phone call away for whatever the league needs.

“Every year the Sons of Italy makes a large donation that allows us to do so much in preparing for the upcoming season” league President Alex Rauch told the fans between games as the presentation was made. “On top of that, they call us several times throughout the season to see how we’re doing and if they can do anything else for us, it’s a real source of support that we really need and appreciate” the president summed up.
