Obituary – Robert F. “Bob” Weller
Robert F. “Bob” Weller, 90, of Mill Hall, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at his home.
Born December 9, 1934 in Ligonier, he was the son of the late Franklin and Helen Keeno Weller.
Following graduation from Ligonier High School, Bob played football and obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University. He then obtained his Master’s degree from West Virginia University.
Bob started his career as a high school teacher in West Virginia before taking a position at Slippery Rock University. In 1967, Bob was hired as a professor at Lock Haven University. From 1969 to 1975 he served as head football coach for the Bald Eagles and was also the golf coach for some years.
Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, serving for a short time before he was Honorably Discharged under medical conditions.
On March 18, 1978 in Chambersburg, he married the former Susan M. Bard, who survives in Mill Hall.
Bob had a passion for the game of golf. He was a former member of Belles Springs Golf Course and proud to have been one of the first to play the course when it opened. In recent years, he was a member of Clinton Country Club where he enjoyed his many outings with his wife and friends.
He was a member of the LHU Gray Eagles Football Club and served as a PIAA football and basketball official for many years. He was honored to have his crew selected to officiate a state final football game in Hershey in 2001.
Bob was also a member of the Lock Haven Sons of Italy and Lock Haven Elks Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jenni Hercules of West Virginia; a son, Jeff (Tina) Weller of Ohio; a brother, Lee (Betty) Weller of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Sam Hercules.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 6 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745 with Rev. Susan Champion officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 4 P.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Gray Eagles Football Club.
