Wildcats Outslug State College in 11-7 Victory

STATE COLLEGE – Central Mountain used a hot start and timely hitting to take down State College, 11-7, in a non-league baseball matchup on Thursday evening.

The Wildcats jumped out early, scoring three runs in the top of the second inning thanks to a three-run homer to left field by junior Blake Walker. Central Mountain continued to add pressure offensively, scoring three more in the third and two in the fourth to build an early cushion.

Walker finished with two hits on the day, including the home run and a single. Watt Probst led the Wildcats at the plate with three hits, including a double. Nate Wian also had a three-hit game, while Malaky Moyd added a pair of hits. Brady Lavelle contributed a double, and Isaiah Maldonado, Bryce Brungard, Felix Oquendo, and Darius Shade each had a hit to round out the Wildcats’ 15-hit effort.

Austin Frank earned the start on the mound, throwing 3.1 innings. He gave up three hits and four runs while striking out seven and walking four. Lavelle came on in relief and closed out the final 3.2 innings, allowing six hits and three runs striking out three and walking two.

State College managed nine hits and seven runs in the loss but couldn’t overcome Central Mountain’s early offensive surge.

Central Mountain 4-0 will return to action Friday as they travel to Punxsutawney.
