Johnson Takes Sixth For Lady Phoenix at Girls Classic

WILLIAMSPORT – Lady Phoenix senior Olivia Johnson posted a 3-3 record to win a sixth place finish in the 21-team Williamsport Lady Classic on Saturday, while the Lady Phoenix finished in 15th place as a team.
Johnson (15-11) won her opening round match by pinning Taylor Allard of Benton in 21 seconds of their first period, but then dropped her championship quarterfinal round bout by fall to fourth seeded Memphis Paul of Athens.
John won her first two consolation round matches by fall to make it to the consolation semifinals, where she was pinned by Piper Reed (8-5) of Columbia Montour Vo-tech in 2:58. In the 5th place bout, Johnson lost again by fall to Paul of Athens to settle for her sixth place finish.
Sophomore Evie Andrus (14-10) won her first round bout, but then dropped her quarterfinal round bout by a 15-0, tech fall to second seeded Kallie Bower of Williamsport. Andrus bounced back with a fall over Isabella Henry of Athens in her first consolation round bout, but then was pinned by Deja Roark of Hughesville in 2:09 of their consolation quarterfinal round bout, which made her one win short of placing.
The Lady Phoenix sophomore Kohanna Yamashita (9-9) went 0-2 at 112 pounds, while her classmate Marrin Clester (6-8) also went 0-2 at her 190 weight class.
The next action for the Lady Phoenix will be a Tri-Meet on Tuesday, February 4th, when they travel to Northeast Bradford High School in the town of Rome in the northern tier.
