BENV Kiwanis Christmas Around the World huge success!

LOCK HAVEN – The Kiwanis Club of Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys held its annual Santa’s Workshop on Sunday, December 1st at Central Mountain Middle School from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. This year’s theme was entitled “Christmas Around the World.” As children entered, they received a Passport that they used to “travel” across the seven continents, stopping in Australia, Japan, Germany, Ethiopia, and Brazil to experience Christmas traditions from those countries. Free books and bookmarks were distributed to all in Antarctica. Children were also able to sample traditional treats such as pizzelles, gingerbread, and fairy bread, all essential holiday cuisine from other countries. As always, the children could make a stop to write letters to Santa and have a visit with Mr. & Mrs. Claus.

The BENV Kiwanis Club was awarded a $2,500 grant from the Kiwanis Children’s Fund to provide resources for their annual workshop. The grant was used to promote education and literacy at the event.

“The BENV Kiwanis Club is very grateful to have been able to use this grant to facilitate this ambitious, meaningful experience for our local children,” stated Linda Walker, BENV Kiwanis Club Vice President. Chartered in 2012, the Kiwanis Club of Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 6:00 pm on the third floor of the Sons of Italy in Lock Haven.
