MILL HALL – For a half century, the Mill Hall Volunteer Fire Company has been making breakfast for hungry anglers.

On Saturday, April 18, 2015, a hearty group of volunteers went to work well before dawn to prepare a tasty morning meal of pancakes and sausage to fuel local fishermen as they hit the local streams to test their luck on the opening day of trout season.

Hundreds are fed a hearty fare that also includes plenty of hot coffee and tea as well as juice and other beverages.

The annual breakfast is also a traditional social event spanning generations where those attending have a chance to chat with neighbors, friends and family.

This being an election year for many local offices, it was also a good opportunity for candidates to meet and greet with their constituents.

Although much has changed in our area over the past 50 years, it’s a welcome sight to see such a tradition carrying on in the new millennium.

If the anglers were as well prepared serving up a tasty morning meal for the trout as the Mill Hall Volunteer Fire Company did for them … it’s sure to be a great day for fishing.
