Woodward Township Police Department News:
Burning Ban Lifted
With the recent weather, the restrictions on open burning in Woodward Township have been lifted. Township Officials still wish to remind residents to be responsible when burning and to follow the Township Burning Ordinance attached below.

Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked – DUI Related, Registration and Certificate of Title Required, Habitual Offender
WOODWARD TOWNSHIP—On the afternoon of December 7, 2024, Woodward Township Police stopped a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Larry E. Halterman for a traffic violation on Woodward Avenue. It was discovered that Halterman was driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and his license had been revoked and suspended since 1998. He is considered a habitual offender due to multiple prior DUI convictions. Additionally, Halterman had two outstanding criminal warrants from Centre County and had been a fugitive on these warrants for approximately 10 years. During the traffic stop, he was arrested and taken into custody, then committed to the Clinton County Correctional Facility due to the warrants.
Halterman is now facing new charges, including a misdemeanor for being a Habitual Offender, Driving with a Suspended License due to a DUI, and Driving an Unregistered Vehicle. The vehicle’s owner will receive traffic citations for allowing the vehicle to be driven without insurance and registration and for permitting a suspended driver to operate it. Bail for these new charges has been set at $2,500 unsecured.
All persons accused of committing a crime, and any discussion thereof, are presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Mill Hall Borough Police Department News:
LAMAR TOWNSHIP— Charles Woodley Styers Sr. has been charged with DUI and traffic violations following an incident on November 6, 2024, at 4:05 p.m. Styers was driving on Long Run Road when another motorist noticed his erratic driving and called 911. The caller reported that Styers drove off the road into a farm field, then returned to the road and entered the oncoming traffic lanes. The caller followed him to where he parked the vehicle and stayed there until the police arrived. The investigation revealed that Styers was under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, resulting in his arrest. Charges will be filed in District Court 25-3-02.
