Downtown Rotary Helps the Homeless

LOCK HAVEN – The Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven filled a table with food for Merit House, from Pop-Tarts to sardines, at the club’s meeting on November 19. Rotarians also donated hats, gloves, personal care items, and cash for the staff to buy other things their clients need.

Merit House is the overnight men’s shelter in Lock Haven, run by the Clinton County Housing Coalition.

The club holds collections like this one from time to time for Merit House and other places that help feed the hungry.

Hope Oishi of the housing coalition visited and told the club about the shelter and the growing problem of homelessness in our county. She is seen at center, flanked by club vice president Janine Bruno, left, and assistant secretary/treasurer Carmen Banfill.
