Optimist’s Roundtable
By Martha Sykes
WWJD were letters that we saw on wristbands and t-shirts years ago but the meaning should always be a reminder to us; What Would Jesus Do? It’s a simple question, but when we stop and think about it, it can be potentially a life-changing thought.
Jesus is the perfect example because Jesus lived a perfect life. He certainly experienced pressure, temptation, and I’m sure anxiety just like we have, but He never did wrong. None of us can do what Jesus did all the time because we need help sometimes. We need the power and direction that can transform us through the Holy Spirit.
In the book of I John 2:6, it tells us, “Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Christ did.”
As we live our lives, we are to be a reflection of Jesus and that is what our goal should be in life. It’s not like we have to ask that question as we decide what to wear in the morning, but as we go through our day and face different situations, we can stop and think about the right thing to do because of what we know about Jesus and what He expects of us as we live out our Christian lives.
If we are going to compare ourselves to anyone, we should compare ourselves to Jesus. That will put our lives in perspective.
Look for the best in people, do things as if Jesus were standing right beside you. He is looking for those whose walk matches their talk. Every day, as we look to Jesus, He is always working on equipping us and designing us to change the world for the glory of God.
We need more of Jesus in the world today and if you read those letters backwards, DJWW, it reminds us that the “devil just won’t win!!!”
