First Quality Warehouse Project Underway
McELHATTAN — Site work is underway for a new 279-thousand square foot First Quality Products warehouse across McElhattan Drive near First Quality operations on the east side of the road. Clinton County Court in December had given the go-ahead on a variance request from First Quality to build the warehouse on a 14.3 acre site on the west side of McElhattan Drive, behind various buildings fronting on that street.
The new warehouse is expected to result in about 30 new jobs. The new facility, according to Clinton County Economic Partnership CEO Mike Flanagan, will free up manufacturing space in other First Quality facilities.
Flanagan also recently said the projected start-up is December of 2016 for a third tissue machine at FQ Tissue in Castanea. He said multiple planning steps continue on that project. First Quality had announced in early December that the machine would be located at its existing tissue manufacturing facility bordering Lock Haven.
That $300 million project is expected to create 184 new jobs.
