Obituary – Elizabeth A. Reeder
Elizabeth A. Reeder, 68, formerly of Lock Haven and recently, a resident of Jersey Shore Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Danville Geisinger Medical Center.
Born May 16, 1956 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Richard M. and Barbara Basinger Reeder.
Libby was a 1974 graduate of Lock Haven High School and then attended The Empire Beauty School, Williamsport.
She was a hairdresser, cutting and styling the hair of many friends and family. In later years, Libby was employed at Wayne Township Landfill.
In the 1980’s, she was a member of the Kindred Spirits and remained passionate about the environment throughout the years.
Along with being a supporter of Roads to Peace, Libby was a quiet activist, supporting the Nuclear Weapon Freeze in the 80’s and continuing as a lifelong Democrat, supporting the Clinton County Democratic Committee throughout the years.
Libby enjoyed the arts, whether quilting, painting or listening to music- especially from the ‘60s.
Although fiercely independent, her caring, generous and bubbly personality always brought happiness to others.
Libby is best described as having always been generous and loving. She especially loved each and every person in her family.
Surviving are her uncle and aunt, Rose and Dan Reeder of Lock Haven; numerous cousins of her deceased her uncles and aunts: Eleanor (Bob) Swartz, Richard (Barb) Reeder, Barb (Kels) Lomison and Louie Basinger; her Chapman family; and many close friends including: Colleen Patrick, Cheryl Mann, Fran Decker, and Cindy Love.
In addition to her parents and above-mentioned uncles and aunts, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Daniel and Gladys Reeder; maternal grandparents, Lou and Elizabeth Basinger; brother, Steven M. Reeder; aunt, Doris Yoxheimer; and her longtime significant other, Dave Chapman.
Libby’s family wishes to thank the staff of Jersey Shore Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation for their loving care towards her as well as the staff of Geisinger Medical Center’s Neurological ICU for the determination and support shown towards both Libby and her family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 7:30 PM at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 PM until the time of the service.
