Obituary – Steven “Steve” Louis Temple

Steven “Steve” Louis Temple, 75, of Woolrich passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024 after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma, at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born March 18, 1949 in Lock Haven, PA, he was the son of the late Chalmer and Evelyn Temple.  Steve graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1967 and graduated from Lock Haven State College in 1971 with a B.S. in Physical Education.

Steve was married to Barbara Temple sharing almost 18 wonderful years of marriage.  Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jennifer Temple of Woolrich, daughter and son-in-law Katie and Jake Stewart of Woolrich, son and daughter-in-law Zachary & Jennifer Temple of Manahawkin NJ, and daughter Brandi Shaler of San Antonio, Texas.

Additionally, Steve left behind seven grandchildren including Benjamin Temple, Morgan Temple, Mason Temple, Melody Andrews, Emily Andrews, Aiden Temple, Brandon Temple, and three step grandchildren Nicholas Andrews, Wyatt Stewart and Allison Stewart.

Steve was the youngest sibling in his family, which included Chalmer “Butch” Temple, Jr (deceased) and Sharon (Jack) Neidrich of Corning, NY.

After graduating from Lock Haven State College, Steve taught physical education in New York City.  Upon starting a family with his first wife, Carol Temple, Steve returned to Woolrich to raise his family where he was raised as well.  Steve spent many years in the auto industry as a car salesman and sales manager.  Additionally, he spent several years working for Woolrich Inc.  He ultimately retired from AmeriGas and Susquehanna Trailways.

Steve was a strong family man who hosted many gatherings, thoroughly enjoying time with those closest to him.  He rarely missed a child’s or grandchild’s event, which did not go unnoticed by those whom he always showed up to support.  Steve was an avid sports fan and participated in many sports during his youth.   Over the past several years he greatly enjoyed his snowbird months in Hilton Head.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.  A Celebration of Life for Steve will be held at 5:00 on August 24, at 147 Branch Ln., Lock Haven Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pine Creek Township Recreation, in honor of Steve Temple, PO Box 283, Woolrich PA 17779.  Donations will go toward a memorial in Woolrich Park in Steve’s name.
