Free School Shoes Offered to Eligible Families

LOCK HAVEN  —  The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank will help eligible families throughout the county send their kids to school in a new pair of quality sneakers that fit. 

Litsy Nunez, a student from Commonwealth University — Lock Haven, assembles new shelves for the Lock Haven Area Shore Bank, which re-opens this month for the school year.

The Shoe Bank is open by appointment Saturdays, Aug. 17 and Aug. 24, , 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., inside Covenant United Methodist Church, 44-46 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

Kids and teens from wee ones through high school seniors can choose a pair of free new shoes, as well as some new socks and two books to take home. This month the Shoe Bank will give a small back-to-school gift.

Everything is free.

The Shoe Bank serves families in Clinton County and the Liberty-Curtin School area who have the “Compass” app or letter.

To book your appointment, text or call Diahann at 814-571-5324, weeknights from 7:00-9:00 p.m. She is scheduling now. Aug. 17 is filling up rapidly, but Aug. 24 is open. If you find you cannot keep your appointment, be sure and let her know, even if it’s the morning of your appointment date.

Funding is provided by the Clinton County Community Foundation, an M&T Bank Charitable Foundation grant, civic groups, churches, and individual donors.
