MILL HALL-The 2024 Dotterer Sunflower Maze is open and off to a great start! It offers a vibrant, sunlit experience for visitors of all ages. Located just off Route 64 in Mill Hall, this year’s maze promises to be the most spectacular yet, with over 20 acres of towering sunflowers forming intricate paths designed to delight and challenge. The maze is open 8am-8pm daily with the cost of admission being just $7/person (3 and under free). Various food and craft vendors are on-site daily. You must enter across from 6658 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall, PA 17751. The maze is expected to be open until around August 14, 2024 depending on mother nature.
This year’s maze design is dedicated to the healthcare industry. With the Dotterer family experiencing some difficult times over the last year relying on our healthcare workers, they felt it was only right to give back to those who help care for the world. This year, 10% of the profits will be split up and donated to the Hillman Cancer Center in Williamsport and the Ronald McDonald house in Danville. (see maze design attached in article)
Doug Dotterer, third generation dairy farmer with his family dairy, says “we’re here and we are all about the community when it comes to this maze. We have added a few new activities this year, for kids and adults, with some farmer ingenuity added to them. Inside the maze, we’ve added a few photo opportunity areas as well as the lookout to view the flowers from above.”
One big event they added this year is Glow Night on Thursday, August 9, 2024. That cost is $10/person and includes glow devices and begins at dark.
Visitors can wander through the maze, taking in the stunning sea of yellow blooms that stretch towards the sky. “The maze is family-friendly so everyone can enjoy the adventure at their own pace. Along the way, there are fun trivia questions and educational tidbits about sunflowers and agriculture, making it an enriching experience for children and adults alike,” said Dotterer.
Dotterer Dairy, the 1,200-cow family dairy farm, will be offering farm tours again on the weekends only (Sat/Sun) from 10:00am-4:00pm. Tours are just $5/person, 3 and under free.
In a world that often feels fast-paced and overwhelming, the 2024 Dotterer Sunflower Maze stands as a reminder of the simple joys found in nature. It’s a place to slow down, appreciate beauty, and create lasting memories with loved ones. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor from afar, the maze offers an experience that is both magical and rejuvenating.
