Clinton County Genealogical Society Presents: Genealogy DNA and AI Workshop
LOCK HAVEN – The Clinton County Genealogical Society is sponsoring a one-day Genealogy DNA and AI Workshop on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the Ross Library, 232 West Main Street, Lock Haven, PA 17745, beginning at 9:30 AM and ending at 3:30 PM. The workshop will be offered as “in person” only.
Dana Leeds, a nationally known professional genealogist who developed the Leeds Method, a color coded clustering approach to organizing DNA matches, will conduct the workshop.
Leeds, a genealogist with more than twenty-five years’ experience, is a frequent presenter at prestigious genealogical conferences and institutes, to include the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh (GRIP), Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG), I4HH Institute for Genetic Genealogy, Family Search’s RootsTech, and the East Coast Genetic Genealogy Conference.
“Whether you are a traditional genealogist who is considering adding DNA or Artificial Intelligence (AI) as new genealogy research tools or are currently struggling to understand your DNA results, the Leeds Method can help you,” noted Justin Houser, President of the Clinton County Genealogical Society.
The four workshop sessions will include: The Leeds Method: Organizing Your DNA Matches; One Man, Multiple Names: A DNA-Based Case Study; Cousin Terminology and the Shared cM Project; and Tips for Using AI as Your Genealogy Assistant.
Prior knowledge of the Leeds Method is not required nor do attendees need to have completed any personal DNA testing to attend the workshop. Workshop attendees are encouraged to bring any printout copies or computer based genealogy research files on their laptop to share ancestry data.
Workshop fees are twenty dollars for Clinton County Genealogical Society members and twenty-five for non-members. Light snacks and beverages will be provided at break times and an optional catered lunch will be available for ten dollars. Pre-registration is required for the workshop and lunch. The Ross Library is handicapped accessible.
