Cedar Hill Cemetery, Horses of Hope/Heroes & Horses join forces for Wreaths Across America day

MILL HALL – A local organization has stepped up to be the sponsorship group for a Wreaths Across America wreath placement in Cedar Hill Cemetery in December.
“Please help us remember, honor, and teach on December 14, 2024 at 12:00 PM with wreath placement immediately following the ceremony by sponsoring a wreath, volunteering, or inviting friends to help,” Horses of Hope/Heroes & Horses posted to the website of the 2024 event.
To date, 111 wreaths have been sponsored so far, or 12.4% of their total goal with 781 to go.
“Remember and honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud,” the website further said.
But Cedar Hill Cemetery and Horses of Hope/Heroes & Horses needs your help.
“Please help our location lay wreaths at as many graves as possible by clicking the red “Sponsor” button. Or, if you would like to volunteer to participate in the wreath laying ceremony, please click the “Volunteer” button next to the cemetery name below, and don’t forget to click the “Invite” button to invite your friends and family to join you.”
The total number of veteran graves at Cedar Hill numbers 892, so a good amount of people are needed the day of to lay wreaths.
PACDRH, which is what Wreaths Across America goes by as the code name for Cedar Hill Cemetery, when searching for the event on the website.
Formed in 1869, only a few years after the end of the Civil War, Cedar Hill Cemetery is a 27 acre final resting place for at least thousand or more people, and is home to one of the only pet cemeteries in the county.

Wreaths Across America is set to kickoff its annual Giving in July campaign. Only $17 sponsors a wreath to be placed anywhere in the country, or more locally in Clinton County.
More than 4,250 locations will participate in National Wreaths Across America Day on December 14, and Cedar Hill Cemetery is one of the thousands to remember and honor local heroes.
