CM Softball beats Philipsburg-Osceola 13 – 9

Home runs and hits, lots of hits, were in order as the Lady Cats broke out the bats for a slug fest at Philipsburg on Monday afternoon.

The Lady Mounties got things started with a two out home run in the first inning followed by another two out home run in the second inning. P.O. tacked on a run on two singles in the third inning to open the game with five runs after three innings.

Central Mountain hit the ball hard and often in the first and second innings but were unable to plate any runs until the third inning. In the top of the rhird, Cirstyn Watson led off with a double to right center and Harley Kunes worked a walk to put two runners on for Madison Hardy. Hardy hit a towering shot to left center that bounced off the top of the scoreboard to bring the score to 5-3 at the end of the third.

Hardy’s home run was the spark that was needed to fire up the Wildcat bats and in the top of the fourth inning they batted around, sending twelve batters to the plate and scoring eight runs on seven hits. The score was 5-11 and there was no further scoring in the fourth or fifth innings.

In the top of the sixth inning Cora Myers led off for the Wildcats and hit a line drive home run over the right field fence for her seventh round tripper of the year.

In the top of the seventh inning, Cam Weaver drove a line drive through the right side of the defense and advanced to second base when the fielder mishandled the ball. Two batters later Madisyn Wian hit a RBI single to left center to score Weaver and bring the final score to 13-9.

Addie McKeague pitched six innings for Central Mountain and allowed nine runs on eight hits with four strike outs. Weaver came in to pitch the seventh inning and faced five batters while allowing one hit and no runs.

Central Mountain is scheduled to play their final regular season game on Tuesday at South Williamsport before moving into the District 6 Play-offs.
