Williamsport Prevails in Evening Battle Against Central Mountain: Wildcats Fall 9-6

WILLIAMSPORT-Central Mountain made the trek to Williamsport Monday night for a thrilling evening showdown under the gleaming stadium lights. It was a rematch of their early-season nail-biter, where Central Mountain edged out Williamsport 3-2. However, this time, despite initially holding a strong lead, the Wildcats found themselves on the wrong end of a 9-6 scoreline, with Williamsport emerging victorious.

Central Mountain wasted no time asserting themselves, surging ahead in the top of the 1st inning with a flurry, tallying all their six runs off four hits. Blake Walker spearheaded the offensive charge with a powerful double, while Kevin Grenninger, Malaky Moyd, and Isaiah Moldonado contributed with solid hits of their own. Moyd and Nate Wian showcased their speed with stolen bases, adding to the Wildcats’ early momentum.

Unfortunately for Central Mountain, their early lead slipped away, with errors proving costly as they struggled to contain Williamsport’s offense. Pitcher Austin Frank battled through 3.2 innings, but ultimately took the loss after surrendering 8 runs on four hits, walking six and striking out one. Blake Walker stepped in to finish the game walking three and issuing three strikeouts.

On the other side, Williamsport capitalized on their opportunities, notching 5 hits highlighted by a crucial double from Cayden Robertson. Pitcher Wyatt Bair turned in a solid performance, holding Central Mountain to six runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while walking two and striking out two. Ryan Schur provided valuable relief pitching, contributing to Williamsport’s defensive efforts with a steady inning of work.

With the loss, Central Mountain’s season record moves to 12-4 as they regroup and prepare for their upcoming clash against Lewisburg on Monday, aiming to bounce back stronger and reclaim their winning form.
