Lady Phoenix Suffer Double Defeat Against St. John Neumann

WILLIAMSPORT – The Lady Phoenix traveled to Elm Park on Thursday for a doubleheader against St. John Neumann. Despite a valiant effort, errors proved costly as the Lady Knights emerged victorious in both games, claiming a 20-3 win in the first matchup and a 20-13 victory in the second.

In the first game, the Lady Knights established an early lead by scoring runs in the first three innings, surging ahead 13-0. However, the Lady Phoenix mounted a comeback in the fourth inning, scoring 8 runs. Despite their efforts, St. John Neumann responded strongly, closing the game with 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th, securing a 20-8 win.

Brynn Swanger led the hitting for the Phoenix with a double, driving in two RBIs, while Lily Mundrick and Olivia Clester contributed with singles.

Dakota Holdren took the mound for the Lady Phoenix in the first game, allowing 20 hits, walking 6, and striking out 3. Errors plagued Sugar Valley, totaling 20 in the game.

In the second game, St. John Neumann notched four runs in the first inning, but the Lady Phoenix fought back, scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the first. Olivia Johnson’s double brought in two crucial runs.

Olivia Johnson and Lyla Breon led the offensive charge for Sugar Valley, each tallying 3 hits. Brynn Swanger, Olivia Clester, Ellynn Scarborough, Marrin Clester, Dakota Holdren, and Kayleigh Showers contributed with  hits each, totaling 14 hits in the second game.

Brynn Swanger took the circle in game two, pitching 4 innings and allowing 16 hits, walking 3, and striking out two. Holdren pitched 3 innings, conceding 9 hits and striking out 2. Errors also proved costly for the Lady Phoenix.

Up next, Sugar Valley will travel to Bucktail on Monday.
