Poorman’s 100th Win Caps Lady Bucks’ Dominant Victory on Senior Night
FARWELL – It was a historic night in Farwell as the Lady Bucks secured a commanding 13-1 victory over Columbia Montour Vo-Tech. This win wasn’t just any win; it marked a significant milestone for head coach Mike Poorman, who notched his 100th career win on Thursday evening. Poorman took over the reins of the struggling Bucktail Softball program in 2015, and over the past eight years, he has been instrumental in transforming the Lady Bucks into District Contenders.
The Lady Bucks wasted no time in putting runs on the board, scoring 8 in the first inning. Lola English drew a walk, and following a stolen base, Mak Wagner drove a hard-hit ground ball to center, bringing in the first run for the Lady Bucks.
Although CMVT managed to score one run in the second inning, the Lady Bucks responded with another 5 runs, extending their lead to 13-1. Alexis Lowery’s powerful triple highlighted the night, bringing in 3 runs. With two and a half scoreless innings following, the game was called due to the 10-run rule, with the final score standing at 13-1.
Lola English, Makenna Stone, and Matti Mason each contributed two hits for the Lady Bucks, while Mak Wagner, Kendall Wagner, and Alexis Lowery each added one hit to the tally. Matti Mason and Kendall Wagner both recorded doubles. Overall, the Lady Bucks amassed 9 hits and 13 runs.
Makenna Stone showcased a stellar performance from start to finish, completing the game for the Lady Bucks. She allowed only 4 hits, issued one walk, and struck out 6, demonstrating her strength from the circle.
Not only was it a historic win for Coach Mike Poormana, but it was also Senior Night. The Lady Bucks celebrated a solid senior class, including Gianna Balchun, Mak Wagner, and Alexis Lowery, all of whom have made significant contributions to the success of the Lady Bucks Program.
Up next, the UNDEFEATED 7-0 Lady Bucks will hit the road for a series of away games, starting with a visit to an UNDEFEATED Northwest on Tuesday.
