Lady Wildcats Finish Third, Advance Seven to Regionals

JOHNSTOWN- The Central Mountain Lady Wildcat wrestling team finished in third place at the District 5,6.9 Tournament and advanced seven of their wrestlers to the Central Regional Tournament next week at Milton High School.
Bishop McCort won the team title with 121 points and crowned four champions, while Curwensville finished in second with 97 points and advanced eight wrestlers to the regional tournament. The Lady Wildcats finished with 93 points and two runner-ups, along with two third place and three fifth place finishers.
Kendall Wagner (170) and Ashlynn Miller (235) both made it to the finals, Miller(15-10) lost by a fall to top seeded and undefeated Mylah Steinbuch (16-0) of Bedford in the finals. Wagner (15-3) forfeited her finals match, as she left Johnstown to travel to Loyalsock to play for her Bucktail team girls in their District 4 semifinals playoff game.
The Lady Wildcats had two third place finishers, as fifth seeded Kennedy Metzger (10-15) pinned fourth Marleana DuVall (9-10) of Philipsburg-Osceola in 1:30 for third place. Metzger also pinned DuVall in 29 seconds of their quarterfinal round match. Metzger was pinned by top seeded Patron Plummer (21-4) of Chestnut Ridge in the semifinals.
Freshman Austynn Falls (20-5) was one of three fifth place finishers, as she pinned Alara Quickel (9-13) of Clearfield for the fifth place finish. Falls had also pinned Quickel in the quarterfinals at 136 pounds..
Sophia Hoy (2-6) won her fifth place bout by a 1 second default over Annabella Hunt (10-5) of Philipsburg-Osceola at 142 pounds. Callie Cella (7-11) took her fifth place finish at 190 pounds by forfeit, as she dropped her consolation semifinal bout to third seeded Keyauna Schimp (7-8) of Redbank Valley.
The Lady Eagles of Bald Eagle Area finished in 7th place, as Angie Greib won the title at 149 pounds and Gracie Crestani was a runner-up at 190 pounds and Eden Eveleth finished third at 106 pounds. They were the only three Lady Eagles in the tournament, but all three will advance to the Regional tournament.
The Lady Wildcats’ Emma Scarborough-Perez (13-8) came up one place short with a seventh place finish at 112 pounds, as she pinned Carleighg Grubbs (5-10) of Bradford. They advance the top six place finishers at each weight to regionals.
