LHU’s Bryson Scott named Men’s Basketball PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week
LOCK HAVEN– Bryson Scott (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) of the Lock Haven men’s basketball team was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday (Feb. 19).
The Athlete of the Week is the sixth of the season for Lock Haven and the fourth on the defensive end.
The award is the first PSAC Weekly Honor for Scott.
On Monday (Feb. 19) the Bald Eagles were announced as the No. 8 team in the NCAA DII College Sports Communicators (D2CSC) Atlantic Region rankings, moving up two spots from their previous ranking. This serves as the last D2CSC Regional Ranking of the season and the NCAA Regional Polls will be announced on Wednesday.
The Bald Eagles went 2-0 last week, including an upset victory over No. 10/7 East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, to improve to 17-6 overall and 15-3 in PSAC play. The huge week moved Lock Haven into a tie for first place in the East with ESU and Millersville.
In the Bald Eagles, 74-69, victory over nationally-ranked ESU on Wednesday, Scott was a huge factor off the bench, as he powered the defense with a career-high five blocks and nine rebounds.
The victory over ESU earned The Haven a season sweep over the nationally-ranked opponent and will earn them the tie breaker if the situation presents itself.
Scott added four defensive rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench in the Bald Eagles victory over Shepherd on Saturday.
