LHU’s Wyatt Henson named MAC East Wrestler of the Week
CLEVELAND – Redshirt-sophomore Wyatt Henson (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg) continues to lead the way for the Lock Haven men’s wrestling team and today (Tuesday, Feb. 13), he was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Eastern Division Wrestler of the Week for the third time this season.
Henson, the nation’s leader in tech falls, picked up another one to remain at the top of all Division I wrestlers. Henson, ranked 13th at 141 pounds, led the way for Lock Haven at Northern Illinois last week. He needed just 3:27 to tech Jacob Brya, 22-6 for this 30th win of the season and his 14th tech fall, the third-most in school history for a single season.
His 25 wins this season vs. Division I opponents are the second most in DI.
Henson shared this week’s MAC East honor with Daniel Bucknavich of Cleveland State. Overall, it marks the sixth time this season a Bald Eagle has taken home conference athlete of the week honors. Henson has now been named MAC Wrestler of the Week a team-high three times this season.
Henson and the Bald Eagles will return to action on Friday, Feb. 16 when they host Cleveland State in MAC action.
